Sixth Form College event proves a huge success

Back in 1993, two Oldham sweethearts met and fell in love.
Across a crowded Business A Level classroom in Oldham Sixth Form College the fate of Matt and Samantha was sealed.
Plucking up courage at the end of the lesson (a vague memory or wishful thinking?), Matt delivered the time honoured line: ‘I’m sorry but have we met before?’.
Now, after over 30 years, Matt and Sam were back at OSFC attending an open event with their children last week.
Of course they had to find time to revisit room 114 - now a work room for Progress Tutors who support current students through their studies at college and their progress towards university, apprenticeships or employment.
They had a great time looking round the college with their children, finding out about all the courses on offer and re-visiting those long forgotten haunts of their youth.
And Samantha’s answer to Matt’s question all those years ago?
In 1993, in room 114, she thought for a moment, slightly curled her lip and, spinning on the toe of her Doc Martin boot, and replied ‘No!’
True love can be fickle!
The next Open Event at Oldham Sixth Form College takes place on Monday (October 6) - details are on the website at: www.osfc.ac.uk
