Former St Helens and Great Britain scrum-half star Sean Long has stepped down as head coach of Betfred Championship club Oldham.
Under Long's guidance, the Roughyeds won 15 of their 24 games during the 2025 season, but were beaten 40-4 at home by Halifax Panthers in the eliminators.
A statement issued by the club last night (Tuesday) read: "Oldham can confirm that Sean Long has left his position as head coach by mutual consent.
"Sean guided the club to the League 1 title and a top-four Championship finish in his two seasons with the Roughyeds.
"We thank him for his efforts and he leaves with the best wishes of everyone at Oldham RLFC.
"Further details of our 2026 coaching team will be shared in due course."
