Two arrested following early morning raids in Royton

Very early this morning (Thursday), officers from Greater Manchester Police's Challenger unit, alongside the Tactical Aid Unit (TAU) conducted four warrants in Royton.

The raids were part of an investigation into a suspected organised crime group (OCG) suspected to be distributing class A substances across the Oldham area.

The warrants took place simultaneously at three residential properties and a business premises in the local area.

Searches remain ongoing.

Two men in their 30s have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A substances.

They remain in police custody for questioning.

As a result of the searches, a large quantity of cash and mobile phone devices have been seized as part of the investigation.

Detective Sergeant Youngjohns, of GMP Oldham Challenger Unit, said: “Following four warrants carried out this morning, we’ve arrested two men on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A as part our investigation into the suspected distribution of a controlled substance across the Oldham area.

“We rely on communities to reach out to us with information if they suspect there may be illicit activity in their area, and we will act on it accordingly.

“We are here to protect our communities from organised criminality and the harms that come along with it.
