A flock of tiny, hand-crafted Christmas angels are ready to take flight, spreading happiness in a Saddleworth village.
The Delph Christmas Angels developed from an original idea started by the Churches Together in Saddleworth.
In the months leading to Christmas people are encouraged to knit or crochet small angels following a simple pattern.
Angels co-ordinator and distributor Sue Lund said: "The varying skills of the makers lead to a wonderful variety of the finished product.
"The Angels are not all knitted in white wools, but in a variety of colours and textures - tinsel and mohair for example.”
Prior to distribution, each Angel is labelled with a Christmas greeting from the two Churches in Delph - St Thomas's and Delph Methodists - which includes an invitation to be taken home.
Some of the Angels are then distributed in and around Delph by a team of dog walkers - known as Santa's Elves - placing them on walls, hedges and fences.
“Others can be found at the carols round the Tree in Delph on Sunday 21st and at Stoneswood House on Monday when a group from St Thomas's will be singing carols in the morning," added Sue.
“More than 200 Angels were made this year by members of the Methodist Church, St Thomas's Church and the Piecemakers Quilting Group.
“Thanks to all who make this possible each year.”
