SHAW will be stepping back in time to the swinging Sixties for a weekend of family fun.

The parish council has organised the event, featuring entertainers, dance displays, scooters and vehicles.

But it is less of a journey back than in the past as the extravaganza replaces the Victorian weekend.

On Saturday, in Market Street, there will be a free climbing wall, miniature railway, street entertainer and the Lazy Aces Scooter Club, as well as displays from Madd! For Dance at 11.15am and 3pm.

The next day, Market Street will be filled with vintage vehicles taking part in the annual rally, which has reached its 20th consecutive year.

They will start a drive round the parish at noon and be on display during the afternoon. Plaques will be awarded at 2.30pm.

The market stalls have been made available to charities on Sunday to raise money.

For the whole weekend there will also be a variety of fairground rides and stalls in the market place.

The charity market will be opened at 11am by the parish council chairman, Councillor Hazel Gloster.

She said: “I’m excited about this event and I hope lots of people will attend.”

The shops in Market Street and the stall holders have been encouraged to fit in with the 1960s theme.

Prizes will be awarded on Saturday at 2.30pm to the best-dressed shop, including shop assistants, and on Sunday at 2.30pm for the best-dressed stall and people.
