Herbie heads for UK tour
Date published: 11 November 2008
JAZZ legend Herbie Hancock — who celebrated a double Grammy win this year — is heading to the UK for the first time in two years.
His album “River: The Joni Letters” won the 2008 Grammy for Best Contemporary Jazz Album and Album of the Year.
The jazz pianist has inspired generations of musicians over his 50-year career.
As part of Miles Davis’s “second great quintet”, Hancock helped redefine the role of a jazz rhythm section and was one of the primary architects of the post-bop sound. He was one of the first jazz musicians to embrace synthesisers and funk.
Catch him live at the Bridgewater Hall on Sunday.
