Time to swing into action
Date published: 11 November 2008
OLDHAM jazz singer Anthony Kinsey is marking his debut album with a launch gig on Thursday.
“Time” is a collection of songs featuring new arrangements of jazz standards, original compositions and swing versions of pop classics.
Anthony said: “I’m so excited to be finally releasing my debut album.
“People have been coming up to me for years, asking if they can buy my album and now I feel the circumstances are right for me to step up to the challenge of becoming a recording artist, hence ‘Time’ being the title.”
You can catch him performing songs from the album at The Studio, in Manchester.
The singer-songwriter’s love of music started as a youngster and he’s never looked back, aiming to drag jazz bang up to date with infectious energy and emotion.
A music degree at Leeds University was followed by landing a job with Saddleworth-based events management company Team Spirit, where Kinsey would watch performances from the side of the stage.
When a vocalist failed to show up one day, Anthony stepped in, got the gig and impressed so much that he was rebooked for another performance.
He formed a band and gigs followed thick and fast in places such as Cannes and Monte Carlo.
“Time” will be available initially for download from sites such as iTunes and Napster.
