Big chance to catch the rising Tides

ONE of Manchester’s most popular unsigned bands are playing a hometown gig for their loyal fans.

The Tides can count former Inspiral Carpet Clint Boon, Stone Roses/Primal Scream star Mani, The Smiths drummer Mike Joyce, Shed Seven’s Rick Witter and US celeb David Gest as fans and are fast becoming ones to watch on the regional music scene. They’ve supported the likes of The Bluetones, The Fall, Little Man Tate and Puressence.

Their trademark is Liam’s note-perfect near-falsetto voice teamed with sweeping melancholic choruses, capturing the sound of the Pennines which is where all the writing and composing takes place.

Embrace were sent a copy of their demo CD and decided to keep hold of it when they heard how fab it was.

The next gig for the lads — Liam Pennington, Mark Boswell (guitar), David Furnival (guitar), Sam Clancy (bass) and James Correy (drums) — will be at Moho Live in Manchester’s Northern Quarter on Friday. Tickets are £5. Visit www.myspace.com/the tidesinfo for details.
