HEAVY metallers Black Tide channel the sound of their musical forefathers while injecting a dose of 21st century attitude.
And the youngsters will bring their jaw-dropping stage show to the Manchester Academy on Friday, January 23, when they join the Kerrang Tour.
The Florida lads — Gabriel Garcia (vocals/guitar), Zakk Sander (bass), Steven Spence (drums) and Austin Diaz (guitar) — are fresh from supporting Bullet For My Valentine and Bleeding Through and have been added to Radio One’s daytime playlist schedule.
Through their love of Pantera, Iron Maiden and Guns n Roses the boys — who are all under 20 years old — have created a vibe that manages to sound both experienced (despite the fact that the boys are too young to remember the 1980s) and fresh.
The band were signed to Interscope in 2006 following an incendiary performance at the Florida Music Festival and as soon as debut album “Light From Above” was finished the lads joined the Ozzfest line up, taking to the stage alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Lamb of God and Static X.
Following the album’s release, the band toured with Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine and All That Remains, with critics labelling them metal’s new teen titans.
Festival appearances with Slipknot and Disturbed and a main stage slot at last year’s Download capped a fantastic 2008 for Black Tide with lots to look forward to in 2009.
