LOCAL lads No Tokyo are going from strength to strength in the run up to recording their debut album.
The boys — Daz Whittaker, Stephen Butler, Lee Graham and Dale Baker — have supported Puressence and Exit Calm.
They craft atmospheric indie-space-rock and somehow manage to be down-beat and uplifting simultaneously.
No Tokyo’s on-stage passion is turning some rather important heads such as Matt Terry and Jim Spencer.
Terry, who produced The Enemy’s first album as well as working with The Wonderstuff and Exit Calm, has invited the band down to Vada Studios in Stratford.
Spencer, who has produced albums for the likes of New Order, The Charlatans and Electronic has offered to work with the band in the upcoming months which will culminate in them recording at the Charlatans studio in Cheshire.
You can catch the lads live at the Witchwood, Ashton, on Thursday, at the Ritz in Manchester on May 1 and the Castle in Oldham on May 2. Visit www.myspace.com/no tokyo to find out more.
