What Kati Did Next; Why I can’t stick the body beautiful

Did anyone see the pictures of Miss Universe from Down Under?
She was very tall and very thin. In fact, when she turned to the side she pretty much disappeared. It was quite horrible.
She tells us, yawn, that she eats like a pig, six to eight meals a day but to be honest I don’t believe her, that is unless each meal consists of water and lettuce.
Yes there are very thin people in this world but this girl was a skeleton.
Her hip bones jutted out to sharp points and I tell you what, I wouldn’t want to be in Primark on a busy Saturday with her, those elbows could pierce skin.
If you want to see a picture of an incredibly unhealthy vision of womanhood this is it. At 5ft 11in she is tall and at 7 stone 8lbs, she is malnourished. One of my legs weighs more than 7 stone 8lbs.
Doctors have condemned her shape, stating that her Body Mass Index is way under the healthy range. So, basically, she is starving.
I saw the pictures of her when I was sweating my way through a 20-minute fat-burn on the treadmill at my gym.
When her picture flashed up on the news I actually slowed down to a walk to look at them and eventually just stopped.
I couldn’t for the life of me think why anyone would want to look like that. Anorexia is a disease, stemming from a mental illness.
At what point does anyone think “hey, a disease, a mental health disorder and a size-zero dress, sign me up right now”?
Is this the image we as women want to promote to young girls?
Stick-thin, sunken eyes, pasty skin. The problem is just that, her skin wasn’t pasty, it was slathered in fake tan, her teeth were sparkly, a recent trip to a celebrity dentist will have taken care of that, and make-up can do wonders — trust me.
So, our young women see a healthy, happy looking skeleton and think that’s the norm?
Come on people, its about time we put an end to the idolisation of very thin women and go back to women being curvy, voluptuous and just plain sexy.
I can’t imagine any man turning down Marilyn Monroe for Miss Universe. Can you?
