Minx mix it

CHEEKY monkeys The Minx aren’t afraid of a little confrontation — in fact they positively revel in causing trouble.

The Manchester lads are gearing up for the release of their debut album “Cool as a Courteener” at The Attic in Manchester on Thursday.

The interesting title is sure to raise a few eyebrows in The Courteeners camp especially with song titles such as “Morrissey Wannabe” on the album.

The CD, which was created at Salford’s Blueprint Studios, is crammed with ballsy numbers that grab you by the throat and refuse to let go.

The lads — Chris Haddon (guitar/vocals) Chuck Stuttard (bass) Paul Robinson (guitar) Keiran McIntyre (keyboards) and Jordan McGrath (drums) — cite Oldham bands Inspiral Carpets and Twisted Wheel as their greatest influences.

They’ve all been in bands before but formed The Minx during a Btec National Diploma Music Practice course which they all passed this month.

The album launch, which is exactly a year on from their very first gig, will also see performances from the notorious Black Marriars and Up To The Rafters, with a DJ set from Manchester’s own Bernie Cheater.
