FORMER Oldhamer Danny Mayers is branching out on his own after decades of success with one of Australia’s biggest club acts.
Danny left Oldham for Australia in 1970 and threw himself into the local music scene before joining The Delltones in 1982.
The Delltones — whose lineup was completed by native Australians Alan Freeman, Ian Wilson and John Charters — won a Gold Album Award for “Bop Til Ya Drop” which was only kept off the top of the charts by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”.
Danny, who was born in Derker and used to work as a welder, is gearing up for the release of “19 Longfield Street” which is filled with country songs.
The album can be downloaded from iTunes and Danny is in the process of planning a world tour to celebrate the release.
