Alice hopes to strike gold

YOU may not have heard of Alice Russell (above) yet but that’s all about to change with the release of her new single.
The charismatic Brighton belle provides lead vocals on David Byrne’s next release, “Pot of Gold”.
She will also bring out a 22-track double CD of remixes chosen by her fans online.
Alice manages to sound both timeless and bang up to date thanks to her lavishly soulful voice.
With influences such as Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan it’s easy to see how Alice can be mistaken for an American diva rather than the 100 per cent British crooner she is.
Alice is currently touring with her six-piece band. Catch her at Manchester’s Band on the Wall tomorrow.
