WHAT’S the first thing that springs to mind when you think about Lily Allen?

Celebrity spats, ever-changing hairstyles, the fact that she’s Keith Allen’s daughter?

Well, if you’ve never seen her live, what you won’t know is that she’s an utterly brilliant live performer.

The feisty 24-year-old didn’t need snazzy stage sets, outlandish costume changes or gimmicks to entertain the 4,000-strong audience.

All that was required was her stunning voice, some great tunes and humorous banter with the audience.

The eternal crowd-pleaser performed tracks from debut album “Alright Still” and follow up “It’s Not Me, It’s You” as she served pints from an on-stage Guinness pump.

Covers of Britney’s “Womanizer” and “Naïve” by the Kooks were welcome additions as was a guest spot from rapper Professor Green who came on stage during Lily’s outstanding version of “Dub Be Good To Me” by Beats International.

Her sometimes controversial lyrics have seen her slated by critics but young and old sang along to every word without a care in the world.

The outspoken star, who played her whole set in 6in heels, almost had to cut the gig short when she toppled over a speaker during the first song.

But, ever the professional, Lily carried on without fuss and blamed the stage crew for not doing their job properly.

As the last few bars of “Not Fair” blazed out amid stunning strobe lights and ticker tape, anyone who had gone to the gig unsure of what they might see had made their minds up that Miss Lily Allen is a true superstar.
