IF you like electro pop and you like it boisterous, The Filthy Dukes are definitely the band for you.
The trio were very busy boys during the summer months performing at a crazy amount of festivals around the world. The lads have picked up a number of celebrity fans along the way including Radio One DJs Zane Lowe and Sara Cox as well as singer Wiley. Single “TupacRobotClubRock” sounds like nothing else you’ve ever heard and a special Wiley remix provides an extra treat for fans. Their Nonsense in the Dark Tour stops off at Manchester’s Moho Live on Sunday.
OLDHAMERS can support local country rock act Jerzey Street Band when they head to London this weekend.
The lads will play at Monto Water Rats Theatre in Kings Cross — the venue where Oasis got their big break — on Saturday. There will be a coach leaving from Mecca Bingo in King Street at 1pm. Tickets are £25 which includes entry into the gig and return travel. For more information call bassist Mat O’Neill or visit www.myspace.com/jerzeystband.
Manchester basement club The Roadhouse will launch new project All Night Long on Friday with special guest DJ Domu.
The idea behind the night is to invite a DJ who has previously wowed the crowds to come back and perform a full-length set. DJ Domu plays everything from hip hop and soul to techno and house. The fun starts are 11pm and admission is £6.
LISBON dance act Buraka Som Sistema broke into the public’s conscience earlier this year with debut album ‘Black Diamond’.
Catch a rare glimpse of the band at the Warehouse Project, underneath Piccadilly Train Station in Manchester on Saturday.
Kevin Devine is heading out on tour on his own following stints with Brand New and Manchester Orchestra.
The Brooklyn boy played stunning sets at this year’s Lollapalooza Festival impressing the audience with his Jekyll and Hyde vibe switching from guitar freakouts to muted lullabies. He’ll be at Manchester’s Deaf Institute on Monday.
There’s no rest for the wicked — Glenn Tilbrook has slipped his performing shoes straight back on after spending two weeks scaling Mount Kilimanjaro in aid of the Love Hope Strength Foundation.
Taking time off from his bands The Fluffers and Squeeze, Glenn will take to the stage at Bury Met Theatre on Saturday.
With lead singer Bob Marley at the helm, The Wailers sold in excess of 250 million albums worldwide and have performed with the likes of Sting, Kenny Chesney, the Fugees, Stevie Wonder and Carlos Santana since Marley’s death in 1981.
Catch the legends live at Manchester’s Ritz on Thursday.
