Stuck in the middle of a Christmas moan

What Kati did next: OK then. The time has come. I shall grit my teeth and I shall say it out loud. Just the once, so you had better be ready for it. Here goes.
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
There. Done. Don’t expect me to say it again, if you missed it you’ll just have to wait ’til next year. Which, in the scheme of things, isn’t too far away.
I mean, it’s Christmas now and I still haven’t unpacked the suitcases from the summer.
I don’t think I’ll bother, just zip ’em up and throw ’em on the plane next year.
Who cares about mould when you’re lying in the sun?
Oh, I’ll be glad when its over though won’t you?
It means I can move on to moaning about other things, the long cold January, the promise of another successful year that won’t materialise.
I mean there are so many things to moan about and I’ve been stuck right in the middle of this Christmas moan for what seems like an eternity.
However, last night, Christmas carols were blaring out of the radio and I joyfully sang along.
We put the Christmas tree up last week and the child’s face was such a picture of joy. Every morning he has been excitedly opening his “Farmer Christmas” calendar with the delights of chocolates for breakfast.
No wonder children love this time of the year. What happened to an old satsuma?
Ah ha! You see how the moaning is just bubbling under the surface at all times, brush past me and it will spurt out like hot lava.
I do wonder however, whether having children does bring an element of “ooh” and “aah” to the proceedings.
Last year, the boy was too young but this year there is a little pot of excitement brewing in the Coogan household, much to the dismay of the original Scrooge, my husband.
Maybe even next year we will enjoy it. Who knows we may be out with our lanterns carolling around the streets or roasting chestnuts on an open fire.
Oh hell, let’s throw caution to the wind. Happy Christmas one and all. See now look what’s happened. Roll on the New Year.
