Gig of the week: TWISTED WHEEL, Manchester Academy 2
LOCAL lads Twisted Wheel play Manchester Academy 2 on Friday
The local lads took their name from a Manchester nightclub when they formed in early 2007.
Guitarist and singer Jonny Brown, bassist Rick Lees and drummer Adam Clarke played their first gig at the Viva indie club in Stalybridge.
From there, their popularity grew and grew and last summer, the lads were chosen as support act for the Oasis Heaton Park concerts.
The band signed to Columbia Records in January, 2008, and spent most of that year touring as well as supporting Kasabian, The Pigeon Detectives and The View as well as playing at Reading and Leeds Festivals.
Their self-titled debut album was released last April with a special live performance and signing session at Oldham’s HMV store.
Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has described Twisted Wheel as “a breath of fresh air” — catch them live and find out for yourself what all the fuss is about.
