Owl City is flying high, selling fast

CHART-TOPPER Owl City takes inspiration for his tracks from his daydreams and imagination.
But it’s a formula that clearly works as he’s selling out venues all over the country.
Debut single “Fireflies” has sold more than two million copies and topped charts across the globe.
The 23-year-old — real name Adam Young — started his musical career by uploading a few of his synth-pop tracks on to MySpace.
Two-and-a-half years and one EP, two albums and more than 50 million MySpace hits later and he’s the proud creator of the fastest-selling electronic/alternative track of all-time.
The album which spawned it, the self-produced “Ocean Eyes”, has nestled happily in the US top 10 since its release in July and Adam is playing to sell-out crowds.
Adam turned to music in a bid to beat the boredom of growing up in Minnesota — and just look how far he’s come.
Find out for yourself what all the fuss is about when Adam plays at Manchester Academy 3 on Monday.
Also playing Academy 3 on Monday is Canadian electro-popper Lights. She is already a huge star in her homeland — and labelled the future of synth-pop — she has picked up a number of awards and crashed the charts.
Performances at last year’s V Festival, a support slot with Keane and getting her tracks played on reality TV show “The Hills” have helped make Lights one to watch.
Her debut album “The Listening” will be released this summer.
