WHEN Australian muscleman Peter Andre released “Mysterious Girl” in 1996 he was seen as a bit of a laughing stock with his spiky gelled hair and outrageous six pack.

Several number one singles followed before Pete faded into obscurity never to be heard of again until his stint on ITV reality show “I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!” in 2004.

It was there, in the Australian jungle, that he met his now ex-wife Katie Price — glamour girl Jordan — and saw his star start to rise again.

Endless reality TV shows and magazine interviews kept the publicity-hungry couple in the spotlight. But it was only when the pair announced their divorce last year that Peter finally found the fame he had always craved.

He was quick to cash in on his misfortune and released “Revelation” — his first album in five years — which soared to number one.

The astute businessman organised a host of personal appearances across the country to lure more and more fans to sign up for Team Andre and released “Unconditional Love Songs” just in time for Valentine’s Day.

His tour — which calls at the Manchester Apollo on Thursday — sold out within hours of going on sale.

Fans can expect to hear old hits such as “Flava” and “Natural” as well as new songs “Behind Closed Doors” and “Unconditional”.
