You may not see the platinum-selling rockers stumbling out of nightclubs or splashed across the tabloids with a Page Three girl but they sure know how to put on a show — as you can see at Manchester Apollo tonight.
The band — Tom Smith (vocals, guitar, piano), Chris Urbanowicz (guitar), Russell Leetch (bass) and Ed Lay (drums) — sprang into the limelight in 2005 with their chart-topping debut album “The Back Room”, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Follow ups “An End Has a Start” and “In This Light and on This Evening” also hit the top spot. Editors’ brand of indie rock is habitually compared to the likes of Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Division and Interpol.
The lads met while studying Music Technology at Staffordshire University but realised it wasn’t the career for them and decided to form a band.
Editors supported bands such as Puressence and Oceansize before hitting the road on their own.
