SHE’S worked as a magician’s assistant, a burlesque performer and a dancer but Paloma Faith is definitely best known for her unique voice.
The Hackney-born singer draws on influences from her colourful past to give her stage shows an edge.
The 24-year-old, who comes to the Manchester Academy on Friday, released her debut album, “Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful”, last year.
Her musical career began when she was asked to front pub band Paloma and the Penetrators but it soon became clear that she was destined to be a solo star.
Paloma has been compared to modern soul artists such as Amy Winehouse and Duffy as well as retro singers like Etta James and Nina Simone.
