BEATS: ELLIE couldn’t possibly have had a stronger start to her musical career.
The Hereford-born 23-year-old won both the BBC Sound of 2010 poll and The Brit’s Critics Choice Award so she was well on her way to becoming famous before her second single, “Starry Eyed”, came out.
Ellie, who signed to Polydor in 2009 and released her debut album, “Lights” earlier this year, taught herself to play the guitar when she was only 15 and developed a penchant for folk music.
While at Kent University, she discovered a love for electronica and her sound developed into something more modern.
Collaborations with Frankmusik and a support slot with Little Boots raised Ellie’s profile and she became known as a pioneer for what has now been labelled posh pop.
