BEATS:

FANS of all things alternative will get two for the price of one at Manchester Academy 3 tonight.

Albuquerque quartet Brokencyde fuse crunk, hardcore and screamo for an original sound which has won them fans around the world.

The lads — Seven and Mikl (vocals) Phat J (synthesiser and guitar) and Antz (beats) — got together in 2006.

They chose the name after feeling they were broken inside and set about writing heartfelt music with a difference.

Debut album “I’m Not a Fan...But the Kids Like It” was released in July, 2009, and secured the band a slot on the US Warped Tour.

The band has been universally panned by critics but this has done nothing to stem the flow of teenagers clamouring to get tickets for their gigs.

Playing alongside Brokencyde tonight will be Los Angeles model, fashion designer, make-up artist, DJ and singer Jeffree Star.

The outlandish jack of all trades developed his eccentricity as a child when he began raiding his mum’s wardrobe and make up kit.

Jeffree Star used social networking site MySpace to further his music and fashion career, gaining thousands of fans on the way.

The flamboyant singer has co-written songs with Courtney Love’s band Hole and Motley Crue drummer Samantha Maloney as well as touring with the likes of Peaches, Cyndi Lauper and Metrostation.

Star’s debut EP “Plastic Surgery Slumber Party” was released in March, 2007, and topped the iTunes dance chart beating acts such as Justin Timberlake and Cascada.

Follow up “Cupcakes Taste Like Violence” — so titled because Star is sweet on the outside but fierce inside — peaked at number six.

Debut album “Beauty Killer” came out in September, 2009, to critical acclaim from the music press.
