BEATS:
YOU could never accuse flame-haired popstrel La Roux of flashing the flesh to sell records.
The singer, better known as Elly Jackson, stormed up the charts with her debut single “Going In For The Kill” in March last year.
While La Roux is a double act — completed by synth player Ben Langmaid — Elly is the undoubted frontwoman.
The duo are influenced by 1980s synthpop such as Yazoo, Erasure, Depeche Mode and Heaven 17.
She is well known for her refusal to dress provocatively and has crafted an iconic androgynous look that has been compared to David Bowie.
La Roux have been nominated for a number of awards including BRITs for British Breakthrough Act and Best British Single.
The duo will perform at festivals throughout the UK this summer including T in the Park and Oxygen.
Catch La Roux live at the Manchester Academy tonight.
