BEATS: OLDHAM born supermodel Karen Elson has swapped the catwalk for the stage and followed in the footsteps of her musician husband.
The 31-year-old mother-of-two, a former pupil at North Chadderton School, will tour the UK to promote her debut album “The Ghost Who Walks”.
The album was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, where Karen now lives with her husband Jack White, of The White Stripes, and their children Scarlett and Henry. “The Ghost Who Walks” is Karen’s first solo effort and comes after her six-year stint with New York City-based The Citizens Band. Karen has walked the runway for many top designers, including Marc Jacobs, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana and Versace, after she shot to fame as a teenager.
She has appeared in international campaigns for Yves Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior and Burberry as well as gracing the covers of countless fashion magazines.
In 2010, American fashion brand St John picked Karen to replace Angelina Jolie as the new face of their company. She is currently the face of YSL Opium perfume. Karen won Model Of The Year at the VH1 Fashion Awards in 1998.
You can catch Karen at Manchester’s Night and Day on Thursday.
