Ian Brown, Platt Fields (Manchester), Friday
The former Stone Roses frontman is headlining a massive party to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the iconic park.
After the band split in 1996, Brown went on to carve a hugely successful solo career, releasing six albums, 14 singles and selling out venues across the country as well as appearing at Glastonbury, T in the Park, V and Oxygen festivals. In 2006, Brown won NME’s Godlike Genius Award and scooped Q’s Legend gong the year after.
His career hasn’t been without controversy and Brown landed himself with a four-month stint in Strangeways in 1998 after he threatening an air stewardess.
The Stone Roses are said to have been a major influence for bands such as Oasis, The Verve, The Charlatans, Kasabian, and Coldplay.
