The Crouch End indie rockers shot to fame after winning Channel 4’s “Road To V” competition in 2006.

The lads -— Jack Steadman (lead vocals, guitar, xylophone) Jamie MacColl (lead guitar, backing vocals) Ed Nash (bass guitar, keyboards, backing vocals) and Suren de Saram (drums, guitar, backing vocals) — released their debut album “I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose” in July, 2009.

The band is named after a chain of Indian restaurants in London and saw many line up changes before the set up was finalised in 2006. They played gigs in schools, clubs and tiny London bars before being entered into the TV contest which has previously been won by The Young Knives and The Holloways.

In 2007, NME claimed Bombay Bicycle Club were “the hottest band to come from North London for quite some time” on the back of the release of their debut EP “The Boy I Used to Be” and appearances at Reading and Leeds Festivals.

The lads’ debut single “Evening/Morning” was released in August, 2008 and this was followed by a headline UK tour and stints at festivals across the country. Bombay Bicycle Club won the Best New Band category at the 2010 NME Awards in February.
