BEATS: LOCAL lads The 99s are hitting the road as they drum up support for the release of their debut album.
The Saddleworth trio — James Loughlin, Adam Quigley and Johnny West — are on a mission to put their place of birth on the map.
Their self-titled album is packed with folk rock ditties complete with touches of brass in recognition of their roots.
They’ve been compared with everyone from The Byrds to The Beatles but the boys are keen to retain their own identity.
Johnny said: “We want to put where we come from back on the map for the right reason. The music we write reflects our area. We write songs on top of hills.”
The band have received airplay on various radio stations over the past few months and the future is looking bright.
The album is available for download on iTunes and Amazon and you can catch the band live at Wylde’s in Bury on Friday.
