MIDDLETON indie boys The Courteeners will stage a huge homecoming show at the Manchester Arena on Friday.
Liam Fray, Michael Campbell, Daniel Moores and Mark Cuppello — who met when they were 10 — started the band in 2006.
They completed a gruelling circuit of shows around Manchester bars and clubs before the release of their first single “Cavorting” in 2007.
The band launched debut album, “St Jude”, at HMV’s Market Street store in Manchester — with fans queuing from midnight to get their hands on a copy.
The Courteeners, who can count Morrissey as a fan, were crowned inaugural winners of the Guardian’s first British Album Award beating off stiff competition from Glasvegas, Duffy, Adele, and Noah & The Whale.
Second album “Falcon” was released earlier this year. It hit number six in the charts and was followed by a gig at Manchester Central.
