BEATS: BIRMINGHAM indie quartet The Twang will bring their unique brand of funky fun to Manchester’s Sound Control tonight.
The lads - Phil Etheridge, Martin Saunders, Jon Watkin, Matty Clinton and Stu Hartland - formed in 2001 and have so far released two albums, “Love It When I Feel Like This” in 2007 and “Jewellery Quarter” in 2009.
The Twang garnered national acclaim when NME produced an article on music acts in the West Midlands which also featured fellow Brummie bands Ripchord and The Enemy.
They are signed to the B-Unique label, home to Kaiser Chiefs, The Automatic and The Ordinary Boys.
CULT rockers Sonic Youth are at the Manchester Academy next Thursday.
The band, who formed in New York in 1981, were originally associated with the rising art and music scene in New York City.
Part of the first wave of American noise rock groups, the band carried out their interpretation of the hardcore punk ethos throughout the evolving American underground.
The band has experienced success and critical acclaim throughout the last three decades.
