ROMANTIC types can treat their loved ones to a Night at the Musicals to mark Valentine’s Day.

Pop Idol runner up Gareth Gates and West End star Scarlett Strallen will treat audiences to a collection of some of theatre’s greatest love songs at the Bridgewater Hall on Monday.

The show includes My Funny Valentine, from Pal Joey; If I Loved You, from Carousel; Can You Feel the Love Tonight, from The Lion King; Jersey Boys’ Can’t Take My Eyes Off You and Last Night of The World, from Miss Saigon.

Gareth won the hearts of the nation with his cheeky charm when he narrowly lost out to Will Young on the ITV talent show in 2002.

He has since gone on to establish himself as a leading star of the West End and also appeared as a contestant on ITV’s Dancing on Ice. Scarlett’s credits include the title role in Mary Poppins and she has just starred in Stephen Sondheim’s Passion at the Donmar Warehouse.
