The main part of the concert consisted of a percussion instrument, the marimba playing either alone or duetting with a tenor saxophone or flute.
We heard first four young string players delighting an appreciative audience with an early Mozart quartet. The slow movement was especially beautiful.
The somewhat strange harmonies and discords generally more tune-less than tuneful but superbly and rhythmically performed by Oliver Pooley (marimba),Gregory Barker (saxophone) and Beata Smith (flute) may have been unusual to regular concert goers; nevertheless no-one could fail to appreciate the outstanding talent of these three young students.
Some of the works performed were titled Oblivion, Diversions, Nemesis and Impression, of the different composers Piazolla stood out with his genial dance rythms.
