Comic rapper is a delight

DOC BROWN
The Lowry, Salford
WHEN this rapper reached his thirties clearly he did not foresee he would be making hundreds chuckle with his music.
The Londoner is at a crossroads in his career and can still appear embarrassed to be making audiences laugh with his material.
Once a rising rap artist, Doc Brown, aka Ben Smith, collaborated with the likes of Mark Ronson, Lily Allen and the late Amy Winehouse.
Now he is making a mockery of his former life, telling the sell-out Lowry audience about the egocentric world of rap and how he didn’t fit entirely into that world.
Brown, who recently starred alongside Ricky Gervais in Comic Relief’s “The Office Revisited” as an aspiring rapper, looks to have finally found his calling.
As well as being sharp and intelligent on racism, sexism and “dad dancing”, the amiable Brown is a witty, cool, warm and talented rapper.
A refreshing show from a man who has clearly fallen into the world of comedy - and should stick with it.
