Much Ado About Nothing, Royal Exchange, to May 3
QUICK of wit and sharp of tongue, Beatrice (Ellie Pieacy) spars marvellously with Benedick (Paul Ready) in this Shakespeare play of parallel love stories.
This is a play of firsts for the Royal Exchange. It was a theatre debut for Paul Ready, with his easy, relaxed performance and perfect comic timing.
It was also a first for Ellie Pieacy, who made a tremendous Beatrice. The pair worked brilliantly together with great chemistry under the superb direction of Maria Aberg – also directing her first play at the Exchange.
Sandy Foster brought the house down with her hilarious performance as watch captain Dogberry.
A show well worth watching: get a ticket and treat yourself.
