Halle goes to the movies

THE Halle Orchestra was back home after an 11-day European tour to play some of the great movie classics in the latest of its pops concerts.

Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries” was one of the highlights of a concert under the baton of Bury-born Stephen Bell, which also showcased Strauss’s “Blue Danube” waltz, used in “2001, a Space Odyssey.”

Soprano Sarah Fox sang Puccini’s “O mio babbino caro” (used in “A Room With a View)”.
