Ashton on the march

Golf round-up
Ashton increased their lead at the top of the Oldham and District Golf League's 'A' Premier Division after thumping nearest rivals Werneth 7-1 at Hurst Cross.
Andy Lomas and Sam Carroll got the home side off to a flyer with a 6&5 success, but the rest was very tight with the three other games going to the 18th with 1up and 2up wins for Ashton and one game halved.
Martin Wild's men now head the table by five points after Dukinfield beat Denton 6-2 and neither Blackley nor C&R could register their first win of the season in a 4-4 deadlock.
In the A Championship, North's free week gave Brookdale the chance to draw level, and they did exactly that by beating Stamford 6-2.
It's a case of as you were in the B East as all three games there finished 4-4, leaving just four points between the top four sides.
And there were also two draws in the B West, but Stamford stole a march on the rest with a whitewash 8-0 success at home to basement side Brookdale.
