Euro gold glory for Isaan hot prospect Tommy

Tommy Sheridan, who fights out of the Isaan Muay Thai training centre in Oldham, flew out to Armenia to compete at the WMF European championships - and returned home with a coveted gold medal.
Failsworth-based, who is 13 and attends Oldham Hulme secondary school, had a tough a semi-final against France but took the win and progressed to the final.
There, he faced a local fighter from Armenia and the favourite to the win the competition.
However, Tommy put on a kicking masterclass, and roared to a well-deserved win and and bacame a gold medallist in the -51 kg category.
WMF European vice president Pete Spensley said that Tommy was the talk of the competition and that it’s one of the best overseas competitions he has been to.
Isaan head coach Ste Donnelly said: "Tommy has come on leaps and bounds since joining Isaa.
"He is a precocious talent and I’m extremely proud of him.
"Being a European gold medalist sounds fantastic!"
