Oldham Council says further work could require temporary closures in the new year.
The spaces are due to reopen ahead of the Christmas trading period and the town’s Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday 14 November.
The car park opens from 7am to midnight, Monday to Saturday, and from 9am to midnight on Sundays.
James Kington, Oldham Council’s director of growth, said “We're delighted to be able to make additional parking spaces available at Town Square Car Park ahead of the festive season.”
He added “As work continues to transform and improve the town centre, we know that parking availability is important for our businesses and visitors.”
The council said essential work would continue in the new year alongside the wider town centre regeneration.
This could require the whole car park, or sections of it, to close temporarily. The council said it would give advance notice of closures wherever possible.
