Passengers on the Oldham and Rochdale Metrolink line are facing disruption on Monday afternoon, 21 September.
No trams are running between Shaw and Crompton and Rochdale Town Centre.
Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and a North West Ambulance Service incident response team are at the scene.
Our reporter at the scene said an individual had been taken from the tracks by emergency services.
Their condition is currently unknown.
Transport for Greater Manchester has not given an estimated time for services to resume and said the disruption will continue until further notice.
Passengers can use tram tickets and passes on bus services 17, 57, 59, 76, 81, 83, 84, 114, 149, 181, 182, 409, 411, 435, 436 and 471.
