A grand effort by Oldham RU ace Jobson

Date published: 11 January 2026

Alex Jobson has become the first Oldham RUFC player to score 1,000 points in the club's 122-year history.

It's a remarkable achievement given the club's history of producing quality players and the challenges faced in recent times.

A product of Oldham's juniors system, Alex's journey is especially impressive considering his first years at senior level were when established goal-kickers like Callum Megram and Jordan McEwan were already making their mark, and during a time under the captaincy of Gareth Barber where scoring penalties was often bypassed in favour of ambitious attacking play and scoring tries.

Additionally, the 2018/19 season saw Alex representing Preston Grasshoppers, a team six levels higher in the RFU system, under the guidance of legendary coach Paul Arnold, highlighting his exceptional talent and versatility.

Everyone at the club is thrilled with this confirmation of Alex's huge contribution to Oldham's success over the last decade and hopes he continues piling on the points in the future.
