As usual it was backed by the great organisation of Alliance officials Ian H Brooks and Jim Cunliffe backed by some pleasant weather and the sponsor was Mick Holmes of Cheadle GC.
The competition in all sections was close and exciting with the individual pro section won by Phil Kelly 40, two more than Craig Corrigan and Sam Shaw (New Mills), both 38.
The dynamic duo of Jamie Howarth (Davenport) and John Nightingale (Shaw Hill) led in the pro am section with 44 just enough to see off Phil Kelly and Martin Dwyer (Stamford) 43 and Craig Corrigan and Phil Cooney (Houghwood) 42.
It was even closer in the Am Am section with late starters Charles Herbert (Haigh Hall) and Mark Foley
(Davyhulme Park) posting 44 to finish one ahead of Andy Shaw and Tony Green (Leigh) and Dave Smith (Hart Common) and Danny Beeley (Westhoughton).
The Nearest the Pin prize was won by Betty Fan (Bolton Old Links) who also won numerous complimnts for her immaculate golf gear on the day.
Ian H Brooks said: “The compliments we had all day about the venue from the players were fantastic and I cannot improve on them.
“The number of players who stayed behind to enjoy the Bramhall hospitality experience again showed how the Alliance lives up to its motto of ‘Friendship through Golf’”.
