After the huge success of last year’s ‘Peter Pan’, Oldham Theatre Workshop’s Professional Company are back with one of the world’s best loved fairy tales this Christmas - Hansel and Gretel.

Between December 11-29, this Christmas family production will be told through inventive storytelling, original song and music, and be staged at the Oldham Library.

The cast includes Sam Winterbottom (pictured below), Natasha Davidson (Peter Pan - OTW Professional Company, The Snow Queen - Theresa Heskins), Sophie Ellicott (Closets the Musical - Eyre & Ely Productions, The Visitor's Book - OTW Professional Company, Peter Pan - OTW Professional Company) and Daniel Hartshead (Peter Pan - OTW Professional Company, Snow Queen - Relative Pitch Opera).

This year sees Oldham Theatre Workshop celebrating its 50th anniversary, and an abundance of exciting events have happened throughout the year.

Artistic Director James Atherton and his team wanted to recognise the milestone with a clutch of inspiring initiatives and events.

The final two shows that will close the Golden Year are Hansel & Gretel and The Glad Game (Youth Theatre at OTW Studio, The Old Museum).

The Glad Game runs from December 15-22 and tickets can be bought directly from Oldham Theatre Workshop on the number 0161 772 3240.

Hansel and Gretel writers Sarah Nelson and James Atherton trained together at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where their first collaboration was featured at the National Student Drama Festival.

Since then, they have written numerous shows together.

Sarah’s recent credits include The Lost Story (M6 Theatre) and Letter To Boddah (Hope Mill Theatre).

James’ recent credits include Astley’s Astounding Adventures and Around The World in Eighty Days (New Vic Theatre).

They collaborated on ‘Tis Written in the Stars (OTW, Oldham Coliseum), which was nominated for the MTA @MTAwards Youth Panel Award, and this year produced the joyous and moving musical The Visitor’s Book (Hope Mill Theatre).
