Committed community volunteer leader Peter Killan is celebrating a milestone birthday raising funds for Doctor Kershaw's Hospice.
Peter who is 80 and group leader of Uppermill Community Action Network, is clearing leaves from the half mile stretch of Huddersfield Narrow Canal canal towpath through Uppermill between Wade Lock and the railway viaduct.
He says: “The task will be limited to quiet times on weekdays only, to ensure social distancing, and the target is to complete the task before Christmas.”
Everyone, especially those who use the towpath, are invited to sponsor Peter and all donations will go to Doctor Kershaw's Hospice "Furnish with Love Appeal".
He added: ‘Because all their planned fund-raising events for this year have been cancelled, Dr Kershaws urgently need help towards buying furnishings for the Patient and Family Lounge in their brand new In-Patient Unit.
“Whatever you donate will be really appreciated and will mean so much for the Hospice.”
