Date published: 27 November 2020
Today is Lancashire Day
Liberal Democrat Councillor and District Lead for Shaw and Crompton, Diane Williamson, has said: “Happy Lancashire day to all Lancastrians.”
“This year the Friends of Real Lancashire are asking fellow Lancastrians to raise a toast at 9pm - we hope you can join in," added Councillor Wiliamson.
"Whilst not born in the County Palatine of Lancashire, I have lived here since 1990 and am pleased to be able to celebrate our day in small ways.
"This year, Shaw and Crompton Councillors requested that the flag poles in High Crompton Park and Dunwood Park be adorned with the Lancashire flag today (Friday, November 27).
"I am delighted to see that the Big Lamp roundabout's four trees have been lit up in red to coincide with this special day.
"At 11am there was a fly-by across Oldham.
"If you saw it, take a photograph and send it to - enquiries@forl.co.uk - and they will put it on their website.
"There will be a prize for the best one."
In Shaw town centre, the proclamation is read out by the Town Crier together with a member of Shaw and Crompton Parish Council.
"Enjoy Lancashire Day!” Councillor Williamson added.
