In for a penny

Date published: 30 August 2022

To help ease the burden of the rising cost-of-living, grocery delivery app Snappy Shopper is partnering with ten stores across Greater Manchester to give local families the chance to top up on lunch supplies for a penny.

As many families are preparing for their children to go back to school and all the expense that entails, Snappy Shopper is offering a bundle of essential lunch products for just 1p to new and existing customers who order via the app or website.

Our nearest store is Shanny & Bros, which is on Broadway in New Moston.

The promotion runs from tomorrow (August 31) to September 2, following a successful pilot project in Scotland.

The offer includes packed lunch staples such as multipack crisps, multipack yogurts, bananas or multipack apples, multipack juices, bread or rolls and 100g of cold meat.

The offer will be available from the following stores via the Snappy Shopper app:

Go Local Duchy Stores

One Stop Yew Tree

Family Shopper Dronfield

Family Shopper Barnsley Rd

Chester's Premier

Go Local Davenport Off Licence

Tom's Convenience Store

Shanny & Bros

Nisa Local Bury Rd

Carlton Convenience

Both Snappy Shopper and participating retailers will pick up the cost of the promotion, while Snappy Shopper is also investing heavily in marketing to raise awareness and support local retailers.

Snappy Shopper Operations Controller, David Stewart, said: “Supporting local retailers and the communities they serve is what Snappy Shopper is all about.

"We’re proud to be able to work with our retailers to support families as they prepare to return to school and provide support with essential lunch items, during what it a difficult time for many.”

Snappy Shopper is on a mission to serve local community businesses and their customers with technology by offering an affordable and convenient home delivery service within one hour.

Shanny Sabir, owner of Shanny & Bros, said: “Being able to help our local community with this 1p bundle is really important to all of us in the store.

"We have fantastic relationships with customers throughout our local community and we understand the challenges many people are facing at present – it’s great to be able to work with Snappy to offer this promotion which we know will be a huge help to a lot of people out there.”
