Friends of Gallery Oldham group set to launch

Last year, a number of Oldham residents answered the call by showing an interest in creating a friends group for Gallery Oldham.

Following the initial discussions, a small working group have met a few times to discuss how to take this idea forward.

As a result, there will be an official launch of 'The Friends of Gallery Oldham' at the Gallery on Thursday week, March 14, at 6.30pm.

Local artist Steve Whitworth will be in attendance, creating a sketched record of the evening.

Chairman of the newly-formed group, Roger Hindle, said: “A lot of work has been done to get us to the stage where we can officially launch and this is a very exciting time, both for the Gallery and the new friends group.

"We would love to see anyone at the launch event who would like to join the group and allow us to tap into people’s expertise.”
