This year's Scouthead and Austerlands fun dog show proves a huge success

The 2025 Scouthead and Austerlands fun dog show proved to be a great success and was enjoyed by all who attended.

Fine weather and lots of canine interest made for a very enjoyable day at Dawson’s Field.

There were 13 fun classes with rosettes to fourth place and first place prizes kindly donated by Wagmore Pet Boutique.

Local traders, organisations and food vendors were also in attendance.

It was lovely to see the youngsters having a go in the Young Handler class as well as all the effort that went into training the dogs for the Best Trick.

The Supreme Sausage Catcher 2025 went to Noodle, a young female Cockerpoo, who was adopted through P.A.W.S.

She proved the most accurate catcher on the day and had her fill of sausages by the end of the knock-out competition.

Best in Show went to Ziggy the Wire Haired Fox Terrier and Whippet ‘Amy Whinehouse’ was Reserve Best in Show.

Thanks went to Scouthead and Austerlands Community Group for helping with the organisation on the day and also to Saddleworth Council who kindly approve the event.

The fun dog show raised £295 for Pennine Animal Welfare Society which helps towards the care of unwanted cats and dogs.

PAWS is now operating as a foster based rescue following previous planning refusals on the land they purchased in the Delph area.

The charity is planning to hold another dog show later in the year September 20.
