The Centre of Wellbeing, Training and Culture in Oldham (CWTC) hosted its Volunteer Achievement Event supported by the Volunteer Celebration Fund.

A total of 79 attendees came together to celebrate their achievement, dedication and impact of its volunteers.

Twenty individuals received certificates by the Deputy Mayor Brian Hobin and Councillor Fida Hussain recognising their outstanding development and contributions to CWTC’s community programmes.

The event was attended by CWTC’s working partners which included Oldham College, North Lancs Training Group, Oldham Council, Action Together, Positive Steps, YMCA Training, Kings Trust Ashton and Rochdale, Oldham Sixth Form College and members of the public.

Councillor Hobin said: “It is great to see the volunteers and the enthusiasm and the engagement that they have done at CWTC."

Councillor Hussain said: “It was a fabulous event with the volunteer awards.

"The participants, especially the young people, were absolutely marvellous.

"This organisation has become a beacon for the Borough, a hub for the local people.

"It's so nice to see so many diverse faces here taking advantage of the opportunities that are being provided at this Centre.

"I would like to congratulate Mohammed and staff on their achievements and I hope they carry on with this tremendous work that we need.”

Lee Harland, Work Experience Manager at Oldham College, said: “The organisation have done really well, especially with our students.

"It’s great to see how far they have come.”

CWTC CEO Mohammed Sarwar said: "We are very proud of our staff for providing the knowledge, skills and confidence to our volunteers and work placements.

"It's so good to see them progress in education and work life."

With over 1,040 people visiting the centre since last September, CWTC is beginning to outgrow its current premises, which is due to the success of many services users and working partners.
