The project has been a collaborative effort to grow healthy, fresh produce while building strong community connections
Over the past 12 weeks, 35 parents from Burnley Brow Community School, Chadderton and Community Grocers customers have come together to take part in a rewarding Gardening Project delivered by Jigsaw Homes and Naz Gardens.
Mohammed Rahman from Naz Gardens and Asmina Choudhury from Jigsaw Homes held sessions twice a week at Burnley Brow School and the Fernhurst Allotment.
The project has been a collaborative effort to grow healthy, fresh produce while building strong community connections.
Participants cultivated a range of seasonal vegetables, including bottle gourd, various garnishing herbs, and different types of spinach.
As the weeks progressed, the women not only developed their gardening skills but also built lasting friendships with others from across the local area.
By the halfway point of the project, the women were harvesting fresh vegetables weekly, which they proudly took home to cook for their families bringing their labour to the dinner table.
Headteacher Helen Atkinson-Smith said: “it has been a joy to see the garden group coming together and the produce was amazing!
"Well done Amina and Naz for your commitment to the community in Chadderton and Oldham.”
